That’s me and my hair, speaking directly to you from my high school attendance office in 1991. (Kind of ironic that I was allowed to work in the attendance office, given that I skipped first period at least three times a week during my senior year to eat breakfast at Jack-in-the-Box with my best friend Diann, but whatevs.) My 1991 self is visiting today to let you know about the coolest, most rad Flashback Friday event ever.

The totally awesome Stiletto Mom mentioned to me months ago that she thought it would be fun to post our prom pictures during the month of May so that we could all have a hearty chuckle over our dresses and hair and stuff. S.M. claims that she has the best Pepto Bismol pink prom dress ever, and the pics to prove it. And while I can’t believe she was ever less than completely chic at any point, I wanted to see that dress.

So I was all, “That’s such a rad idea Stiletto Mom. I went to the prom in the early 90’s, so my dresses were all black, but I had some seriously large hair for at least one of my proms, and I would totally love to post those pictures!”

But then we were like, “I wonder if other people would like, want to post their prom pictures too?”

And I was all, “Shah! Of course they will. Duh!”

 So today we are announcing next Friday’s Prom Flashback, and we totally expect all of you cool kids to post your prom pictures too.

Like, all you have to do is dig out your prom pics and like, post them on your blog next Friday, May 15th. Then leave a comment with either Stiletto Mom or myself that includes a link to your post. We will so totally link back to everyone who participates. It will be so totally awesome. And like, funny and stuff.

We would also totally heart you forever if you spread the word on your blog, email or Twitter.

Can’t wait to see you all in your formal attire best (or worst) next Friday!

    I would love to do this but I graduated high school in 1974, in Northern California. We had a Jimi Hendrix cover band, who knows what I wore, and any photos would probably have caught someone smoking illegal substances….

    1991 hmmm..? What was I doing? That was the year I realized that as an over 30s mom of 2 boys my husband better not die because I would never have sex again. Then I promptly up his life insurance. If I wasn’t going to get sex I figured rich would be nice.
